*~The Japanese blossom snake isn't rare at all, but can be found in abundance hiding amongst the blooms in early spring. One only has to look. This snake isn't venomous to humans and animals and prefers to eat insects - butterflies being it's most tasty breakfast. This little guy doesn't blend well with his habitat - a mystery which continues to boggle scientists to this day. Has evolution failed to keep up with this fellow? Or has he continued to show his colors for the mere purpose of pleasing human onlookers? Indeed a mystery. This beautiful snake will glady come down to visit hungry people who have placed their picnics under the shade of his tree. He won't be interested in your food for he is just a curious one who only wishes to inspect the happy faces who have come to visit his home.~*
--- I hope you enjoyed my little story to go along with my snake. No, there is no such thing called the Japanese Blossom Snake - I just wanted to pixel a pretty snake with pretty colors. I am really proud of this - especially the snake and the colors. The colors took me forever. It's kind of difficult pixeling gradients. Stats: Time: Aprox. 2.5 hours Program: Jasc Hope you all enjoy! EDIT: Yah, I know snakes don't "blink." I forgot, but it's still cute. Whatever - this species just happens to have eyelids, I guess. xD I give the following clubs permission to post this in their galleries: Daily DeviationGiven 2007-07-12Japanese Orchard Serpent by *InfinitiesEnd has created a delightful piece of PixelArt with a beautiful feel of the orient and some excellent pixel work, particularly in the snake's body. A really pretty piece of work with just a hint of animation, adding that final touch of sweetness. (Suggested by =votrereine and Featured by `ShoneGold) |

I love the shading on the snake, it definitely mimics the real way the scales turn color!
